Thanos Returns in Marvel Concept Poster to Battle Deadpool and Court Death in The MCU

A new piece of fan art imagines a potential crossover between Deadpool and Thanos, introducing a powerful Marvel villain absent from the MCU. Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is set to permanently join the MCU in Shawn Levy’s upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ suggesting future team-ups with other MCU characters. While Levy may consider pairing Deadpool with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Reynolds’ antihero could potentially clash with a renowned Marvel Studios villain.

The fan art by ‘soloauthority’ visualizes Deadpool and Thanos in a quest to court Death, a formidable Marvel character yet to appear in the MCU. This concept poster explores the potential for an unexpected MCU crossover storyline.

Death, a significant figure in Marvel Comics since her debut in 1973’s ‘Captain Marvel #26,’ is depicted as one of the most influential cosmic entities in the Marvel Universe. Despite her importance in comic book storylines adapted by Marvel Studios, Death has yet to make a live-action appearance. Notably, Thanos’ pursuit of the Infinity Stones in the comics was driven by his desire to impress Death, rather than restore balance to the universe.

In Marvel Comics lore, Deadpool’s unique relationship with Death leads to humorous and dramatic moments, including Thanos cursing Deadpool with immortality out of jealousy. This dynamic could provide rich material for a potential Deadpool and Thanos crossover in live-action, especially amid rumours of Thanos’ return to the MCU.

Additionally, a reunion of Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin—previously co-stars in ‘Deadpool 2’ where Brolin portrayed Cable and was humorously referenced as Thanos—would add an intriguing twist to the storyline.

While a Deadpool and Thanos crossover promises entertaining moments, it could also introduce significant developments for the MCU, potentially involving the elusive character of Death.
