‘The Office’ Sequel is On The Way, Peacock Confirms

The streaming platform, Peacock, is gearing up to unveil a brand new sequel series to the beloved comedy classic, ‘The Office.’

But here’s the twist: while the show remains firmly rooted in the same world as the original series, which famously centred around the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company Scranton branch, it will feature a whole new set of characters in different professions this time.

NBCUniversal has greenlit a new series helmed by Greg Daniels, the mastermind behind the original, alongside Michael Koman, promising a fresh take on the beloved format. The title of the series is still under wraps, adding an air of mystery to the excitement. Production is slated to kick off in July 2024, with the talented duo of Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore set to lead the cast.

Notably, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the creators of the original UK version of ‘The Office,’ will also be on board as producers, adding their magic touch to the sequel.

According to reports from Comic Book Resources, the new series will remain within the same universe as ‘The Office’ but will focus on the revival of a struggling local newspaper. Set in a small American town, the show will follow the journey of an ambitious publisher as they attempt to breathe new life into the failing publication, attracting attention from documentary filmmakers who previously chronicled the happenings at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton branch.

For several years now, executive producers Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, in collaboration with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, have been working to inject fresh comedic energy into the setting of a local newspaper.
