Theresa Nist Faces Wardrobe Mishap During Wedding Ceremony

Theresa Nist picked a stunning gown for her wedding to Gerry Turner on the 4th of January night, but the celebration didn't go off without a slight hiccup. Just before sealing their vows with a kiss, one strap on Nist's Badgley Mischka dress unexpectedly broke. Despite the wardrobe malfunction, the couple continued their ceremony seamlessly, and the rest of the evening unfolded without a hitch. 

Turner, the 72-year-old Golden Bachelor, couldn't take his eyes off his 70-year-old bride. The couple got engaged on the finale of last year's show. Nist, adorned in a "traditional and modern" Badgley Mischka dress, walked down the aisle in a gown featuring a strapless plunging neckline, a fitted bodice with a mermaid silhouette, and a dramatic voluminous tulle train. Completing her look, she wore a matching veil, adding a touch of princess-like elegance to her wedding attire.

Nist invited her loved ones, including her daughter, Jen Woolston, and fellow Golden Bachelor contestant Susan Noles, to help choose her gown. Overwhelmed by the stunning options from Badgley Mischka, Nist shared that she asked each woman to pick their favourite. After they made their choices, Nist selected three dresses of her own and walked down the stairs with them.

The unanimous decision was that the chosen dress was the perfect one, and Susan, in particular, felt proud because it was Nist's final pick.

During the Golden Wedding special, Nist showcased some of the dresses she didn't choose before revealing the winning gown. As she entered the room, her loved ones clapped and shed a few tears. Without hesitation, Nist declared, "This is the one," expressing her deep admiration for the gorgeous gown that would ultimately become the centrepiece of her wedding to Turner.

During the ceremony, Turner stood beside Nist, donning a classic tuxedo, while her daughter served as the matron of honour. Amanda Nist, her daughter-in-law, and Turner's daughters, Angie Warner and Jenny Young took on the roles of bridesmaids, and Turner's granddaughters, Charlee and Payton, served as junior bridesmaids. All of them adorned themselves in Badgley Mischka outfits to complement the bride.

This marked the second marriage for both Nist and Turner. Nist's initial marriage was to William "Billy" Nist at the age of 18, just before he was drafted into the Vietnam War. Their union lasted for over 42 years until his passing in 2014. Turner was married to Toni Turner for over 40 years until she died in 2017.

Turner and Nist's relationship unfolded during the inaugural season of ‘The Golden Bachelor’, culminating in Turner proposing to Nist with a "vintage-inspired" Neil Lane Couture ring. 

Turner explained the significance of the ring, stating, "The symbolism of it is so important. It was just like, the minute she slipped it on, again, it was like, ‘Oh, my god, this is that joyful happiness that I want to feel, that I want everyone to see.’"
