The limited-edition sandworm bucket, crafted from tin with a lid that resembles the giant creatures from the desert planet Arrakis, was announced by AMC Theatres to coincide with the return of ‘Dune’ to cinemas. Adapted from Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel, Villeneuve’s film showcases the imposing sandworms that dominate Arrakis’ terrain and pose a threat to its inhabitants.

Villeneuve acknowledged the online buzz surrounding the popcorn bucket, suggesting that despite its bizarre design, it has sparked amusement and positivity. Chalamet, who portrays Paul Atreides in the Dune films, humorously pondered whether the bucket’s creator is celebrating its success or feeling offended by the response.

Reflecting on the unexpected popularity of the sandworm bucket, Villeneuve remarked, “At the end of the day, it seems that bucket brought a lot of laughter and joy,” sentiments echoed by Chalamet, who stressed the importance of spreading positivity.

However, Chalamet quipped to Villeneuve, “You were not personally involved in the design process,” to which the director jokingly replied, “I thought you were!”
