Tom Holland’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ Tickets Sold Out in Under Two Hours

Soon after going on sale, tickets for the upcoming production of ‘Romeo & Juliet,’ which stars Tom Holland in the title role, quickly sold out. In February, Holland’s casting was revealed, creating a lot of excitement as the ‘Spider-Man’ actor got ready to play the legendary male lead in William Shakespeare’s classic story.

The play, which is being presented by The Jamie Lloyd Company, will take place at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre from 11th May to 3rd August.

Tickets for the twelve-week engagement, according to Deadline reports, sold out in less than two hours, sparking talk about a possible Broadway transfer after the London run ends. The production gains additional intrigue from director Jamie Lloyd’s reputation for his minimalist adaptations of classic texts, and one of the main draws of the production is Holland’s participation.

The remaining cast members have also been revealed, with Freema Agyeman, best known for her work in ‘Doctor Who’, playing Nurse and Francesca Amewudah-Rivers making her debut as Juliet. The Jamie Lloyd Company, however, addressed the alarming problem of racist abuse directed towards one of its cast members on the internet amid the excitement.

The group denounced the actions in a statement, stressing the importance of creating a respectful and safe space for all artists to work and perform.

In addition to the excitement surrounding ‘Romeo & Juliet,’ there have been rumours circulating in the entertainment world that Nicolas Cage is in talks to star in a live-action Spider-Man Noir film.
