Travis Barker Aims to Inspire Outdoor Activity With 'Run Travis Run' Event

Travis Barker recently channelled ‘Forrest Gump’ to promote his new initiative, ‘Run Travis Run,’ with a simple goal: to inspire people to get active outdoors.

In late June, the 48-year-old Blink-182 drummer recreated the iconic running scene from the 1994 film, accompanied by cheers from his wife, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, who adapted the famous line to encourage him: ‘Run Travis, run!’ Barker shared the playful moment on Instagram as part of launching his "run and wellness experience."

The concept behind ‘Run Travis Run,’ scheduled for Los Angeles, and Queens, New York, is to make running approachable and enjoyable. "I don't want it to be discouraging," Barker told PEOPLE, emphasizing that everyone can participate in a 5K and be motivated to embrace outdoor activities.

Beyond running, the event will feature various wellness activities including breath work and cold plunges, reflecting Barker's journey to health and recovery. His friend Lucas, who assisted Barker in overcoming a fear of flying following a traumatic crash in 2008, will also participate.

Health and fitness have been pivotal for Barker, both personally and as a bonding factor with Kourtney Kardashian, 45, whom he describes as sharing his passion for wellness long before their relationship began. "It's amazing to be with someone that has the same love for wellness," Barker remarked.

As Barker prepares for tours with his band, he views fitness as crucial, ensuring he's in peak condition to deliver energetic performances. "I never like getting out on tour and feeling rusty the first week," he said. "By the time I'm out on tour, I'm well-trained and ready to go out there and give it my all."
