'Twister' Sequel: Unveiling The Stormy Saga, All You Need to Know

In 1996, ‘Twister’ revolutionised the disaster movie genre with its groundbreaking visual effects and thrilling storyline. Audiences were captivated by the tale of amateur storm chasers battling tornadoes in Oklahoma. The film soared to success, grossing nearly $500 million worldwide and earning Academy Award nominations for 'Best Visual Effects' and 'Best Sound.'

After over 25 years, the long-awaited sequel, titled ‘Twisters’, has finally been announced. The anticipation skyrocketed with the attachment of stars like Daisy Edgar-Jones from ‘Normal People’ fame and Glen Powell from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. The unveiling of the first trailer during Super Bowl LVIII heightened excitement for the turbulent sequel.

‘Twister’ was ahead of its time, and fans expect nothing less from its successor. Scheduled for release in  2024, ‘Twisters’ promises to deliver a whirlwind of action and suspense, maintaining the legacy of its predecessor. Initial plans for a reboot began with Joseph Kosinski, director of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, in talks to helm the project.

Filming for ‘Twisters’ is set to commence in early 2023 in Los Angeles, setting the stage for a gripping tale of storm chasing and survival. Alongside Edgar-Jones, the star-studded cast includes Maura Tierney, Harry Hadden-Paton, Sasha Lane, Kiernan Shipka, Nik Dodani, David Corenswet, Tunde Adebimpe and Katy O’Brian, though specific character details remain under wraps.

The official description, released by Universal Pictures in February, teases a riveting narrative centred on Kate Cooper (portrayed by Edgar-Jones), a former storm chaser haunted by past encounters with tornadoes. 

Drawn back to the open plains by her friend Javi, Kate finds herself embarking on a perilous journey to test a groundbreaking new tracking system, setting the stage for an epic battle against nature's fury.
