‘Twisters’ Receives a Perfect Rating: The Ultimate Summer Blockbuster

Summer blockbuster season is here, and fans are eagerly anticipating some of the most exciting releases. One standout is ‘Twisters,’ the upcoming feature starring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones. This standalone sequel to 1996’s ‘Twister’ promises an exhilarating storm-chasing adventure. Recently, the movie received a PG-13 rating for “intense action and peril, some language, and injury images,” according to ComicBook.

This rating indicates that director Lee Isaac Chung has crafted a four-quadrant film packed with thrilling action and significant stakes for the characters. The story follows Kate Cooper (Edgar-Jones), a former storm chaser traumatised by a tornado encounter during college.

Now studying storm patterns safely from New York City, she’s lured back to the plains by her friend Javi to test a new tracking system. There, she meets Tyler Owens (Powell), a daring social-media star who documents his storm-chasing exploits. As the storm season escalates with increasingly terrifying phenomena, Kate, Tyler, and their teams must fight for survival. 

With its exciting premise and PG-13 rating, ‘Twisters’ promises epic set pieces, intense storm-chasing, and a gripping plot. Previous images and trailers have teased the high-stakes action and dramatic encounters within the storm. Screenwriter Mark L. Smith previously told Collider, “It’s just a wild ride with fun characters. Hopefully, we can capture the iconic essence of the original.”

He also praised director Lee Isaac Chung for stepping out of his usual genre, noting, “It’s so cool to have Isaac take on something like this. It’s out of his norm, and he’s really enjoying the craziness of it.”

The film’s ensemble cast includes Anthony Ramos as Javi, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Harry Hadden-Paton, David Corenswet, and Daryl McCormack, with additional roles played by Tunde Adebimpe, Katy O’Brian, Nik Dodani, Kiernan Shipka, and Paul Scheer.

‘Twisters’ will hit theatres on 19th July.
