Tyla Praises Her Diamond-Chain Nails at Met Gala: ‘Just Looks Cute!’

Tyla showcased a stunning manicure at the 2024 Met Gala, perfectly complementing her theme-inspired Balmain gown. The 22-year-old singer, making her Met Gala debut, opted for a timeless soft-pink nail colour accented with chains dripping with tiny diamonds, crafted by celebrity nail artist Coca Michelle.

Addressing concerns about the practicality of her adorned nails, Tyla brushed off any worries, emphasizing that the aesthetic appeal outweighed any potential inconvenience. Despite the sand-covered gown presenting challenges during her ascent up the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s famed red-carpeted steps, Tyla expressed her delight with the overall look, describing it as “out of the box.”

Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, explained that the dress, featuring three colours of sand mixed with micro-crystal studs, aimed to redefine boundaries and transform transient materials into everlasting masterpieces. 

However, the sculptural gown proved impractical beyond the red carpet, prompting Rousteing to ingeniously transform it into a mini dress inside the museum with the help of a pair of scissors provided by fashion influencer Eva Chen. 

Rousteing shared a behind-the-scenes video of the impromptu alteration on Instagram, showcasing Tyla’s barefooted transformation inside the Met Museum.
