Usher Dedicates NAACP Image Award to Honour The Powerful Women in His Life

Usher, the acclaimed ‘Coming Home to You’ musician, solidified his status as a music industry powerhouse at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards. The singer was presented with the prestigious President’s Award, a recognition bestowed upon celebrities and public figures for their exceptional achievements and dedication to social good.

NAACP president and CEO Derrick Johnson presented the award, after which Usher acknowledged his wife Jenn Goicoechea with a kiss from the audience before taking the stage. Clad in black, Usher expressed his heartfelt gratitude, dedicating the award to the influential women who shaped him into the person he is today.

This wasn’t Usher’s only triumph that evening. He had already secured two Image Awards before the ceremony, one for outstanding male artists and another for outstanding soul/R&B song for “Good Good,” his collaboration with Summer Walker and 21 Savage.

“I’m so overwhelmed with appreciation for my entire family, without them I wouldn’t be able to do this,” Usher said. “They say behind or beside or with every strong man is a stronger woman, and for that, I thank my mother and my beautiful wife Jennifer for holding me down. My kids, I love you guys so, so much.”

Usher’s night culminated with him clinching the coveted Entertainer of the Year award, solidifying his reign as a top performer. He faced stiff competition from other talented artists including Colman Domingo, Fantasia Barrino, Halle Bailey, and Keke Palmer.

Usher’s 2024 has been a year of remarkable achievements.  His electrifying Super Bowl performance, a 13-minute Las Vegas-inspired spectacle, brought renewed attention to his extensive and impactful career.
