‘Wednesday’ Season 2: Steve Buscemi Joins The Cast

Steve Buscemi has officially signed on to join the cast of the highly anticipated second season of ‘Wednesday.’ While the specifics of his character remain a closely guarded secret, sources from Variety have let slip that Buscemi will take on the role of the new principal at Nevermore Academy. Representatives for both Netflix and Buscemi have opted to stay mum on the matter.

Buscemi, known for his memorable roles in iconic films such as ‘Reservoir Dogs’ and ‘Fargo,’ as well as his acclaimed stint in ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and appearances in ‘The Death Of Stalin,’ is no stranger to the screen. His television credits include standout performances in ‘Miracle Workers’ and a notable turn in Season 5 of ‘The Sopranos,’ along with guest spots on ’30 Rock’ and ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.’

The commencement of production for the second season is slated to kick off in Ireland later this April. Earlier in January, Jenna Ortega hinted at what’s in store for fans. She teased, “We’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror. It’s really, really exciting because, all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes and that’s the wonderful thing about her.”

Ortega elaborated further, “There’s really, really good one-liners and I think everything’s bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.” Last year, she also disclosed to Variety that romantic storylines for Wednesday would be shelved for the second season.

Expanding on the horror elements expected in the upcoming season, Ortega remarked, “Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.”
