We’re Getting a 4th ‘Ocean’s’ Film! Confirmed by George Clooney
George Clooney has spilled the beans on a fourth ‘Ocean’s’ movie in the making. While chatting about his latest flick, ‘The Boys In The Boat,’ the actor revealed the exciting news.
A slick script has been penned for the next instalment of the heist series, picking up the narrative after the events of 2007’s ‘Ocean’s 13.’ Clooney expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We have a really good script for another Ocean’s now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script.”
And no, it won’t be called ‘Ocean’s 14,’ according to Clooney, who hinted at an alternative inspiration, saying, “Well… I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like Going in Style.”
Speaking of Going In Style, the 1979 heist comedy directed by Martin Brest featured three elderly men with zero criminal experience attempting to pull off a bank heist. In 2017, Zach Braff remade the film with a stellar cast including Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin as senior citizens.
Now, back to the Ocean’s universe. The star-studded heist films, originally inspired by the 1960 Rat Pack movie, featured the likes of Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck, Elliott Gould, Julia Roberts and, of course, Clooney himself. The trilogy kicked off in 2001 with ‘Ocean’s 11,’ followed by ‘Ocean’s 12’ in 2004 and ‘Ocean’s 13’ in 2007.
In 2018, a spin-off titled ‘Ocean’s 8’ hit the screens, with Sandra Bullock taking the lead as the presumed-dead character’s sister.
But the Ocean’s universe doesn’t stop there. A separate prequel film is in the pipeline, featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Directed by Jay Roach and set in 1960s Europe, the movie reportedly casts Robbie and Gosling as the parents of Clooney’s character.
Clooney himself shared his quirky take on the prequel, “Margot Robbie’s my mother? I’ve always thought that. And Ryan Gosling is my father, and when you think about it, it makes sense. Truly.” The prequel, announced last May, is still shrouded in mystery, with details about the script, crafted by Carrie Solomon, being kept tightly under wraps
