Playing Annie placed Smith in a legacy that stretches back to the famous ‘Little Orphan Annie’ comic strip. Actresses like Sarah Jessica Parker, Alicia Morton and Quvenzhané Wallis all left their mark on the role in various productions throughout the years. Smith’s performance alongside renowned stars like Taraji P. Henson and Harry Connick Jr. captivated viewers, but this wasn’t her first time shining on a big stage.

Before captivating audiences as Annie, Smith honed her skills in Atlanta, Georgia, with the support of her family.  Her artistic journey began at a performing arts camp called AGI Entertainment. 

This early training propelled her to the national stages, where she landed the role of Young Nala in the touring production of the beloved musical ‘The Lion King.’ Smith’s talent wasn’t limited to the theatre – she also took on various television projects, demonstrating her well-rounded skills at a young age. Despite her youth, Smith possesses a strong work ethic.
