Why Billy Joel Declined Touring With Sheryl Crow And Lionel Richie

During her performance at the Michael J. Fox Foundation's benefit concert, the esteemed folk-pop icon revealed a proposal she had made to fellow music legends Billy Joel and Lionel Richie. She shared her idea of embarking on a world tour together, which she had pitched to them last year.

However, Billy Joel, known as the Piano Man and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, politely declined the offer with a simple explanation: "I only do two shows a month."

This revelation occurred during Sheryl Crow's appearance at the benefit concert, where she delivered a captivating performance at Nashville's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. The event, titled 'A Country Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s,' gathered notable musicians to support the foundation's cause.

Despite the enthusiasm and potential of Crow's tour proposal, Joel's preference for a lighter performance schedule became evident. This preference aligns with his approach to his concert schedule, where he prioritises quality performances over quantity, as reflected in his limited number of shows per month.

Additionally, CBS announced an upcoming broadcast featuring footage from Billy Joel's monumental concert at Madison Square Garden, marking his 100th consecutive performance at the iconic venue.

This special broadcast, titled ‘The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden — The Greatest Arena Run of All Time,' signifies a historic moment in Joel's career as he shares his remarkable milestone with audiences on a national platform.
