‘Wicked’ Drops First Trailer Featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo

The highly anticipated first teaser trailer for the movie musical ‘Wicked: Part One’ made its debut amidst the excitement of the Super Bowl, offering viewers a captivating glimpse into the enchanting world of Oz. Directed by Jon M. 

Chu, acclaimed for his work on ‘In the Heights’, the film adaptation of Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman’s Tony-winning Broadway production promises to captivate audiences in a two-part saga.

Part One sets the stage for a mesmerising journey into the origins of the iconic characters, with Cynthia Erivo stepping into the bewitching role of Elphaba, the green-skinned protagonist, while Ariana Grande embodies the effervescent Glinda. 

Inspired by Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel, ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’, the film offers a compelling prequel to the beloved tale of ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

Joining Erivo and Grande are a stellar cast, including Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as the enigmatic Wizard, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle, Ethan Slater as Boq and Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible. 

Director Chu teased audiences with a promise of grand musical numbers and epic action sequences during CinemaCon, emphasising that beneath the spectacle lies a profound exploration of change and the quest for a better future.
