Sophie Turner's Iconic Journey as Sansa Stark

With her role as Sansa Stark in HBO's fantasy powerhouse 'Game of Thrones,' which ran from 2011 to 2019 and became one of television's most influential dramas, Sophie Turner catapulted to international celebrity. Turner's portrayal of Sansa's development through betrayal, adversity, and political mastery—winning her global fame and critical acclaim along the way—charted her transformation from a young, innocent noblewoman at the beginning of the saga to the formidable Queen in the North by the conclusion.

A Sequel on the Horizon and Turner's Candid Take

Fans have long questioned whether the original stars of 'Game of Thrones' would ever make a comeback as HBO continues to develop the series' universe through prequels like 'House of the Dragon' and the forthcoming 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.' Sophie Turner was recently asked if she would return to Westeros and take on Sansa's role once more amid all of this excitement.

Turner responded with characteristic wit, quipping, "Show me the money (laughs)," when entertaining the idea of rejoining a 'Game of Thrones' sequel. But beyond the joke was a thoughtful message: she believes returning to the role would be "hard but also amazing," and only something she'd consider if the creative vision felt right.

She admitted in the same meeting that Sansa's journey from Winterfell to sovereign ruler felt fair and comprehensive, implying that any return would have to respect rather than destroy that legacy. Turner feels fortunate to have had one of the more satisfying endings in the ensemble, which makes the decision to revisit it even more delicate.

Looking Beyond Westeros: Life, Career & the Future

Turner has been writing new chapters in her personal and professional life, even if her time on 'Game of Thrones' continues to be a pivotal period in her career. She is presently displaying her versatility outside Westerosi drama in the upcoming Prime Video series 'Steal,' which premieres on 21st January, 2026.

As she approaches her 30th birthday, Turner is also generating news for her off-screen life, juggling job and parenting while concentrating on personal development. Since the end of 'Game of Thrones,' Turner has undergone significant introspection and personal development, attending therapy and establishing a stable life for herself and her two girls. Despite her openness to the idea of a sequel, Turner makes it clear that any return to Sansa would not be taken lightly—it would require a compelling script, a meaningful story and the right incentives.
