Zendaya Donates $100,000 to Career-Starting Bay Area Theater

Zendaya demonstrates her unwavering roots by teaming up with the Women Donors Network to contribute a substantial $100,000 to the California Shakespeare Theater in Oakland, where her acting journey commenced. The theatre, founded in 1974 and well-known for its summer productions at the Bruns Amphitheater, joyfully disclosed the generous donation to their North Star Fund, aimed at bolstering enhancements and future theatrical endeavours.

Leena Barakat, President & CEO of the Women Donors Network, expressed satisfaction in collaborating with Zendaya and extending a general support grant, emphasizing their hope that the funding strategically contributes to the theatre's needs.

Clive Worsley, the theatre's executive director, conveyed deep gratitude to Zendaya and the Women Donors Network for their pivotal $100,000 grant to the North Star Fund, which significantly contributes to the theatre's strength as it approaches its 50th Anniversary season.

Zendaya's connection to the theatre dates back to her childhood, with her mother working there for 12 summers.

The recent donation, according to Worsley, propels the theatre forward in significant ways, facilitating improvements in sound and lighting systems, café enhancements, and funding the 50th Anniversary production of ‘As You Like It,’ directed by Elizabeth Carter. The statement concludes with heartfelt appreciation to Zendaya and the Women Donors Network.

Amid her promotional activities for ‘Dune: Part Two’ and the release of the latest "Challengers" trailer, Zendaya's boyfriend, Tom Holland, shows support by sharing the trailer on his Instagram story, teasing fans with the caption, "You ain't ready for this one!" Zendaya's impressive career includes notable roles in the Spider-Man franchise as Michelle Jones and as the lead actress in HBO's ‘Euphoria.’
