Zendaya Turns Heads in 'I Told Ya' Shirt From 'Challengers'

With a startling homage to the Kennedy family, Zendaya is taking style cues from her most recent movie! On 22nd April the 27-year-old actress made a chic statement by dressing in the recognizable 'I Told Ya' T-shirt that her ‘Challengers’ character wore. At a private screening in New York City, she showed off the grey t-shirt that Challengers costume designer Jonathan Anderson had designed.

Zendaya accessorized her striking top with a traditional brown trench coat, white netted shoes and stylish black wide-leg slacks. She used a peach cosmetics palette and put her enhanced honey-blonde hair in retro waves to finish off her appearance.

In the drama about tennis, Zendaya and her character Tashi Donaldson both wore the 'I Told Ya' t-shirt, which has since become a cherished wardrobe staple. It's interesting to note that the late John F. Kennedy Jr., who was frequently seen playing frisbee with his dog or out with his wife Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, was the inspiration for the shirt's design.

Originating with the first buttons made for President Kennedy in 1961, this t-shirt included the slogan 'I Told You So' in large red lettering.

The 39-year-old Anderson also disclosed that he took influence from JFK Jr.'s fashion sense for Josh O'Connor, who plays Patrick Zweig in Zendaya's Challengers film. On 10th April, O'Connor wore a shirt bearing the same message for the movie's London premiere.

Anderson stressed a similar casual vibe for Zweig's character, expressing a nonchalant yet slightly elegant appearance, drawing inspiration from JFK Jr.'s easygoing attire from the 1980s and 1990s. The ancient yet opulent details of Zweig's clothing, such as a costly yet worn-out pocketbook, were further emphasized by Anderson, giving the character's identity more dimension.

Moreover, Anderson has been observed donning t-shirts bearing the 'I Told Ya' slogan on his Instagram page, further fusing cinema and fashion into a gripping story.
