She feels incredibly grateful as Zoe Saldaña receives her first-ever Golden Globe nomination. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 46-year-old actress expressed her joy, saying she immediately contacted her family to share the good news, including her mother, Asalia Nazario, and husband, Marco Perego. She acknowledged that she never thought she would receive such a distinction and talked about how overwhelming and lovely the praise feels. Saldaña is appreciative that she recognized her diligence and enthusiasm for the project. In addition to speaking with her husband and team, Saldaña, who is presently in Paris, said she woke up her mother to break the news. Her loved ones and coworkers surrounded her with love and support. She also expressed satisfaction with their joint success and congratulated her fellow nominated costars, Selena Gomez and Karla Sofía Gascón.

The chance to represent someone to whom many people can identify is, for Saldaña, the most significant part of this recognition. This accomplishment, in her opinion, demonstrates that everyone can achieve great things, regardless of background.

OTT is streaming ‘Emilia Pérez’, which tells the tale of Rita, a successful lawyer who assists a Mexican cartel leader in feigning her death and changing her identity.
