Who’s Going to Be in the New ‘Harry Potter’ Series? See The New Characters

After months of secrecy, the cast of the new ‘Harry Potter’ television series has finally started to be revealed.  Based on J.K. Rowling's renowned book series, this latest version is being created as a more in-depth television program, focusing each season on one of the seven books.

The majority of the original cast members had no plans to return, despite some expressing excitement about the project.  Famous actor Daniel Radcliffe, who played ‘Harry Potter’, said that while he is eager to watch the series as a fan, he believes that the original cast may not be a good fit.

John Lithgow's casting as Albus Dumbledore was confirmed in the first official casting announcement.  Although Lithgow acknowledged that the chance was unanticipated, he was genuinely excited and even made light of his advanced age and the long-term commitment.  Even before the official news had gone viral, he said he was taken aback by how soon fans identified him with the part.

Severus Snape is being played by Paapa Essiedu.  Essiedu is closer in age to the character's intended timeline in the books than Alan Rickman's older version, which fits with the show's dedication to a realistic rendition.
