Wicked Trailer 2: Elphaba Faces Evil Wizard, Ariana Grande’s Glinda Offers Support

The second trailer for ‘Wicked’ opens with Ariana Grande’s voiceover proclaiming, “The Wicked Witch of the West is dead.”

Unlike the initial teaser, which focused on Elphaba’s (Cynthia Erivo) journey of self-discovery, this trailer highlights her impending showdown with an evil wizard. In one dramatic moment, Elphaba shatters a mirror with her magical abilities, leaving Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) awestruck.

“Absolutely remarkable,” she remarks. As Elphaba hones her powers to confront the villain, Glinda (Grande) offers encouragement, saying, “Listen to me, you can do anything.” Director Jon M. Chu aims to bring the beloved Broadway musical to life on the big screen.

Speaking to a magazine, Chu revealed that the film adaptation will offer an “intimate” look at the characters, allowing audiences to delve deeper into their personal stories. “We got deep. We got deep in there,” Chu teased, explaining that both Elphaba and Glinda have complex emotional layers.

“Elphaba has a lot of wounds, but so does Glinda, and we explored all of those with these two actresses who brought a truth beyond the songs we know,” he added.

With ‘Wicked’ set to explore new dimensions of its iconic characters, fans can expect a fresh perspective on the classic tale, supported by powerful performances from Erivo and Grande.
