Will Reeve Shares How He Honours and Stays Connected to Late Parents Christopher and Dana Reeve

Will Reeve is thrilled to have at last literally and figuratively followed in his father’s footsteps.  ‘The Good Morning America’ contributor revisits Christopher Reeve’s last documentary project in the upcoming ABC special ‘Will Reeve: Finding My Father’, which will premiere on 26th February and be available for viewing on Hulu.  Filming a nature documentary about grey whales in Alaska and Mexico, Christopher was disabled in 1995 after an accident while horseback riding.

In ‘In the Wild: Gray Whales with Christopher Reeve’, Will had long wished to explore the same places his father had.  As a child, he was enthralled with documentaries and yearned to embark on his own journey.  After his father died in 2004, his dream became much more meaningful.  He made it his goal as a journalist to produce a documentary that continued where his father left off because he was no longer able to share his experiences with him face-to-face.

A generational bond is formed when Will meets the son of the guide who travelled with Christopher thirty years prior.  He discovers that the people’s spirit and their ingrained customs are as strong as ever, even in the face of time and changes in the places he visits.

Even though the trip helped him remember his father, Will says that his life’s journey is how he maintains ties to both of his parents, Christopher and Dana Reeve.  Rather than speaking with them directly, he perceives their presence in his interactions, values, and personal path.

In addition to paying tribute to his father’s history, Will gains a deeper understanding of who he is, what he has inherited from his parents, and how he is paving his own way through this documentary.  Hulu is currently streaming ‘Will Reeve: Finding My Father’.
