Will Smith Wants Zendaya for ‘Hancock’ Sequel: Teases Exciting New Idea

Will Smith wants to work with Zendaya on a follow-up to one of his well-liked action movies.

Recently, Smith made an unexpected cameo on the Twitch streamer xQc’s channel. He spoke with musician Marcin about his 2008 superhero film ‘Hancock’.  Zendaya is being considered for a role in ‘Hancock 2’, according to Smith, who acknowledged that plans were underway when a fan inquired about the likelihood of a sequel.

Smith portrayed John Hancock in the first movie, a superhero who battles crime in Los Angeles while juggling his powers and a complicated personal life. Hancock was an alcoholic and suffered from forgetfulness.  Eddie Marsan played the primary antagonist in the Peter Berg-directed film, which also starred Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron.

For years, there have been rumours of a ‘Hancock’ sequel.  Theron stated in 2020 that she would be happy to return for a second feature if the project ever proceeded, and Berg had previously stated in 2012 that he still wanted to pursue it.  But up until recently, there hadn’t been any noteworthy updates.

The distributor of ‘Hancock’, Sony Pictures, has not yet provided an update on the status of the sequel.

Recently, Smith has been playing some of his greatest hits again.  Alongside Michael B. Jordan, he is working on the ‘I Am Legend’ sequel in addition to ‘Hancock 2’.  Through his production firm, he also seems to be working on a sequel to his romantic comedy ‘Hitch’ from 2005.

Smith’s recent return to fan-favourite series was evident in his appearance in ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ in 2024.
