Zayn Malik Postpones U.S. Tour After “Heartbreaking Loss” of Liam Payne

Zayn Malik has postponed the U.S. leg of his ‘Stairway to the Sky’ tour following the tragic death of his former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne. Malik shared the news with his fans on social media, explaining that the decision came after Payne’s untimely passing.

Payne’s death occurred after a fall from multiple stories at a hotel in Buenos Aires. Reports revealed that he had been “trashing” his hotel room prior to the incident, with a preliminary autopsy citing “internal and external” haemorrhages as the cause of death.

His loss has left fans and his former bandmates reeling. In a joint statement, Malik, along with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, expressed their grief over Payne’s passing. 

“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, there will be more to say, but for now, we need to grieve and process the loss of our brother,” the statement read. The group also shared their heartfelt sentiments, saying, “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever.

For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly.” Malik addressed his decision to postpone the tour by saying, “Given the heartbreaking loss this week, I’ve decided to postpone the U.S. leg of the ‘Stairway to the Sky’ tour.” The shows, initially set to begin soon, will now take place in January.

Fans were reassured that their tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates, with Malik promising to share more details in the coming days.
