Zendaya’s ‘Challengers’ Features a Steamy Love Triangle And a Song by Rihanna

Fans now have a preview of what to anticipate from Zendaya’s upcoming feature film, ‘Challengers’, thanks to the release of the teaser.

In the trailer, Zendaya plays Tashi Duncan, a tennis prodigy whose career ended due to a terrible accident. At the height of her career, Duncan attracts the attention of two tennis players, which results in a sensual musical interlude where she kisses each of the guys in a hotel room to the tune of Rihanna’s ‘S&M’ (played by Josh O’Connor’s Patrick and Mike Faist’s Art).

The movie’s official synopsis provides additional plot hints. Zendaya’s character retires from the sport after suffering an injury to become a coach to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist, West Side Story). However, her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor, The Crown) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend.

The fifth studio album by Rihanna, ‘Loud’, featured ‘S&M’ as its fourth single. ‘S&M’ reached its peak at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 2011. It was written by Ester Dean in association with the producers Stargate and Sandy Vee. (A remix of the song with Britney Spears was also released.)

On September 15, immediately following the conclusion of the U.S. Open tennis event, the movie ‘Challengers’ will be released in theatres.
