Meet Shoba Narayan, a figure in the world of literature, journalism, and culture. From India, Shoba is not just an author but a storyteller who has woven her narratives with words that resonate. Her journey is a tapestry of diverse experiences, from earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Women’s Christian College to delving into the realm of fine arts as a Foreign Fellow at Mount Holyoke College.
With a Master of Arts from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Shoba embarked on a 30-year career as a journalist and columnist. Her portfolio boasts an array of accomplishments, including the James Beard Award and a Pulitzer Fellowship, which proves her profound impact on the field.
Beyond the written word, Shoba is a seeker of Indian aesthetics, exploring its influence on diverse facets such as jewellery, music, textiles, and scents. Her insatiable curiosity led her to co-create Project LooM, a website documenting India’s rich weaving traditions.
Shoba’s interests are as varied as her pursuits – from birdwatching to savouring fine wine, studying Jungian psychology, and embracing her inner gadget geek.
She is a regular contributor to the ‘Hindustan Times Brunch’ magazine and has left her mark on publications like ‘Mint’ and ‘The National.’
