Although Malik often stays away from talking about his time in 1D, he has examined the group's discography twice in the past three months. Zayn posted a 30-second black-and-white video of himself on Instagram, singing One Direction’s 2014 single ‘Night Changes’, giving the impression that he was feeling nostalgic. Just four months before Zayn Malik's unexpected exit from the boy band in March 2015, the song was made available as the group's fourth studio album, Four's second single in November 2014. It was a top 20 hit on the Pop Airplay chart and reached its highest position of No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. Malik co-wrote the song along with all of his other members of 1D, Jamie Scott, Julian Bunetta and John Ryan.
