Camila Apologizes For Her Racist Past

Camila Cabello is doing her best to come out of a rather sticky situation! She issued a formal apology for her racist past, as the artist came under fire for using the word ‘Nigger’ on her old Tumblr account. The incident came to light with a screenshot of this account being broadcasted on Twitter.

The artist , now 22, has said in a post that she is deeply ashamed of her ignorance and racist nature of her younger self.”When I was younger, I used language I was deeply ashamed of and will regret forever.

I was uneducated and ignorant and once I became aware of the history and the weight and the true meaning behind this horrible and hurtful language, I was deeply embarrassed I ever used it. I apologized then and I apologize again now,” the singer said.

Camilla taking ownership of her mistakes is something relatively scarce in an industry full of people who are overly conscious of their image and apprehensive when it comes to admitting faults. Earlier Justin Beiber, was also accused of the same misconduct to which he said, “the N word is a form of self expression , don’t curb my self expression”.

Since splitting from 5th Harmony, the singer pleaded that “mistakes” she’s made “don’t represent the person I am”. She continued, “I’m 22 now, I’m an adult and I’ve grown and learned and am conscious and aware of the history and the pain it carries in a way I wasn’t before.” Now, the ‘Havana’ hit maker plans to use her social media influence to speak out about injustice and inequality.

She reassured her fans that she will continue to unlearn and educate herself about racial prejudices.She says she’s “only ever” stood for “love and inclusivity. My heart has never, even then, had any ounce of hate or divisiveness. The truth is I was embarrassingly ignorant and unaware.”
