Crooning To Harry’s “Falling”
You said you cared
And you missed me, too
And I’m well aware I write too many songs about you
And the coffee’s out
At the Beachwood Café
And it kills me ’cause I know we’ve run out of things we can say
What am I now?
What am I now?
What if I’m someone I don’t want around?
I’m fallin’ again
I’m fallin’ again
I’m fallin’
It’s lyrics we’re all familiar with. And it’s an emotion that resonates with all of us – the yearning to cling on to a relationship that’s already slipping through your fingers, much like water.
And perhaps that’s exactly what Harry Styles had in mind when he crafted the video to his track, ‘Falling’
The video shows us Harry sitting at a grand piano, fingers dancing over the keys as the room he’s in is gradually gets flooded with water. And just as Harry finishes the bridge of song, the water rises over his head. But even as he floats, submerged with all the little other objects in the room, he continues singing the heartbreaking chorus.
With his whispy shirt spread out behind him, he finally closes his eyes and settles back on his seat. The only sound now, is of the piano, as Harry flinches in pain. It’s a flicker of emotion, brief but glaring, bringing on a great need to drop everything just to comfort the singer.
And yet, as Harry himself has confessed, despite carrying the burden of a broken heart, he finds solace in his music.
