DJ Clockwork Shares Touching Mac Miller Tribute

DJ Clockwork is honoring Mac Miller’s birthday with a new mix called Mac Miller Remixxed. The project was released on SoundCloud by the DJ, on January 19th. Mac Miller would have been 29 years old this year.

Mac Miller Remembered

DJ Clockwork is a friend and longtime tour companion of Mac Miller ‘s. He released a 48-minute remix album, “Mac Miller Remixxed”, on Tuesday January 19th. The DJ chose to celebrate what would have been the rapper’s 29th birthday. The album has totally 16 remixes of some of Miller’s most beloved songs, including ‘Nikes on My Feet’, ‘Jump’, ‘Kool-Aid & Frozen Pizza’, and ‘Dang!’ among others.

The SoundCloud mix was created with the blessing of Mac Miller‘s family, DJ Clockwork says in the description. Mac Miller’s friends and associates like Thundercat, Bill Niels and Miller’s first tour manager, Willy Whipz, have contributed with touching spoken-word interludes.

“Mac, what’s up dude? It’s your boy Clock,” the DJ says at the beginning of the project. ”Just checking in, saying ‘happy birthday’. I love you. Love to your family. This is a mix I put together for you. I hope you up there partying with Prince. Tell 2Pac I said what up. Tell Biggie I said what up. I love you, man”.

A Promise To A Friend

The last show Mac Miller played with DJ Clockwork was Lollapalooza Chile 2018, and upon hearing of his friend’s death, he promised to honor his legacy. “We have a lot of music in the vault that I don’t even know what to do with,” he wrote on Twitter.

Mac Miller released the album ‘Swimming” in August 2018, one month before an accidental drug overdose. January 2020 saw the release of Circles, a new Mac Miller project produced and completed by Jon Brion.
