Hayley Williams Stars In Her Own Horror Movie
Hayley Williams has launched her solo career with the track, “Simmer”, which features on her upcoming album, “Petals for Armor”, which is slated for release on May 8th. While this is her solo project, Hayley has still enlisted a bit of help from her Paramore bandmates. They helped not only in the backing vocals, but also in the production and songwriting process of a couple of tracks. This album was co-written by Paramore’s Joey Howard and Williams, while lead guitarist, Taylor York, aided with the production.
The music video is the perfect cocktail of a bone-chilling horror movie, a stunning aesthetic and of course, a plot twist that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Initially, Williams can be seen escaping from a masked killer, running between looming trees and bathed under a deep red glow. But does the killer catch her? We’re not giving away any spoilers, you’re going to have to watch and find out for yourself!
In a recent press release, Hayley opened up about this project, highlighting the entire experience and her takeaway from it.
“I’m so ready and so incredibly humbled to get to share this project. Making it was a scary, empowering experience. Some of my proudest moments as a lyricist happened while writing PETALS FOR ARMOR. And I was able to get my hands a little dirtier than usual when it came to instrumentation. I’m in a band with my favourite musicians so I never really feel the need to step into a role as a player when it comes to Paramore records.”
She continued, “This project, however, benefited from a little bit of musical naïveté and rawness and so I experimented quite a bit more. I made this with some of the closest people to me. Their respective talents really shine bright throughout the record. I like to think we all make each other better and the result is something that sounds and FEELS exactly as I’d hoped it would.”
“Now that it’s time to put it all out there, I can finally exhale. I’m excited to let people in to experience a different side of myself that I’ve only very recently become familiar with,” she added.
The album is definitely worth a listen, as it clearly reflects the amount of effort Williams has put into this project, both lyrically and musically.
