Xperience Session: In Conversation with Shruti Haasan
Making her landing on this week’s delightful edition of Xperience Sessions is the one, the only, Shruti Haasan! She sat down with RJ Neerja to chat about her latest release, life in lockdown and all things music.
Now, Shruti has made quite a name for herself in the entertainment industry. The superstar has proven to be a multi-faceted woman and when it comes to the music front, her talents are boundless. From singing her first song at the tender age of six in her father’s “Thevar Magan”, to making her musical debut in the Hindi film “Chachi 420” – Haasan’s vocal abilities have blossomed ever since.
And on her steadily growing list of impressive feats is also the fact that she can sing in multiple languages, effortlessly. Apart from this, Shruti Hassan is also the vocalist of an alternative rock band, The Extramentals. In fact, she recently put out her brand new track ‘Edge’ in collaboration with them.
Speaking of her latest release ‘Edge’ with RJ Neerja, Shruti confessed that the song was after all a “lockdown baby”. Interestingly enough, when discussing the process, she highlighted the topsy turvy nature of creating the song. “So, I’d written a poem first and I really liked four lines in it. Along with bits and pieces here and there. So I deconstructed that and wrote ‘Edge’ as a whole song.”
Apart from this, Shruti also shed light on the struggles that come with life in lockdown. She emphasized that keeping the loneliness at bay might just be the most frustrating part of it all.
But on a lighter note, she also played a fun game with RJ Neerja where she was tasked with naming three things in a limited amount of time. It’s not as easy as it sounds. But you’ll only understand once you give this Session a watch. So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and dive in!
