Beyonce Reveals Star-Studded Trailer For ‘Black Is King’
The last time Beyonce released a visual album, she made a permanent and memorable dent on the hip-hop music landscape. Carving a unique place for her art, she did what she set out to do: reclaim the narrative. And now, with the imminent release of “Black is King”, she’s out to do it again.
For the past few weeks, we’ve been receiving tiny glimpses into what is set to be Beyonce’s new universe. The upcoming visual album, “Black is King”, is both a result of the singer’s experiences and her passion for detailing the black narrative. Taking a lead from the teachings of “Lion King”, the visual album is set to tell a tale of identity, power and kindness. The singer calls it a “gift to Africa”.
The first official trailer gives viewers an idea of what to expect. And while it celebrates the black community, it features some of the most prominent stars in entertainment today. Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Jay-Z, and Kelly Rowland make an appearance in the trailer.
Complete with stunning visuals, befitting of a Beyonce project, the singer can be heard delivering powerful lines. She says: “What a thing to be both unique, and familiar. To be one and the same, and still unlike any other.” Against dramatic crescendos, she continues: “Follow your light, or lose it.”
Slated for release on the 31st of July, “Black is King” will be available for viewing on Disney Plus, National Geographic and more streaming platforms.
