Chanyeol & Sehun Yearn for Love in ‘Telephone’

A brand new tune has landed in our laps and it appears to be a gift from the K-world. The much loved K-pop boyband, EXO, delivered a fresh tune from their subunit – SC. This sub unit consists of the duo: Chanyeol and Sehun, who also form a part of EXO’s rapline. 

Now, the duo just put out the music video for a pre-release track from their upcoming album. Titled, ‘Telephone‘, and featuring the artists, 10cm, this track arrives with an array of peppy Hip Hop beats. With a bright piano riff creating the foundation to this song, Chanyeol and Sehun build off of it. They enter with light melodies and husky rhymes, making ‘Telephone’ quite the groovy number.

The video is a stark reflection of the current reality: everyone’s got their nose buried deep in their phones. Chanyeol and Sehun appear bored out of their minds, roaming through streets and trying to initiate conversations, only to be ignored. Interestingly enough, by the side of the video, little chat boxes pop up, giving us a peek into their texts. Not to give away any spoilers, but things escalate near the climax, disrupting the calm, almost trance-like mood of the whole piece. 

The lyrics are fun and cheeky. Chanyeol and Sehun yearn for affection from their lover, whose attention is fixed on a phone. In a refreshing twist, the lyrics also trace the anxieties and frustrations that come with texting a distanced lover. Here, take a look:

The duo debuted in the latter half of last year and are currently gearing up to drop their first full length album, ‘1 Billion Views’ on July 13, which holds a good nine tracks. But while we wait, go ahead and play this number on repeat.
