Fans Support Britney Spears: #FreeBritney Goes Viral

Britney Spears has been under conservatorship for twelve years i.e since 2008, as her father, Jaime Spears claimed she has dementia and that she couldn’t provide for herself. And, ever since, Kanye West decided to run for presidency, people have questioned the conservatorship the ‘Criminal‘ singer is under.

What does conservatorship mean, you ask? It’s basically putting your life and your decisions in someone else’s hands. It puts Britney Spears’s estate, financial and personal assets under the control of her father and a lawyer. Currently, the singer has a temporary conservator named Jodi Montgomery because her father is facing health issues.

Fans over Twitter have started to tweet #FreeBritney in her support. Britney Spears has become the center of concern for her mental health and that’s being understood by more people ever since the tweets.

If Britney Spears can tour the world, perform a massive multi-year Vegas residency, and be the face of a fragrance empire, then she should be able to drive, vote, choose her own doctor, procure a lawyer, and leave her house without permission. #FreeBritney

The conservatorship guarantees to protect people who can’t take care of themselves as they suffer with mental health issues. Britney Spears being under the agreement has obviously worried people however it’s about to come to an end, finally. Apparently, August 22, 2020 will mark the end date of the contract as ordered by Judge Brenda Penny.

In 2008, Britney Spears had a public meltdown, she shaved her head and battled for custody of her two sons. This is what led to her father being in control of her lifestyle and decisions. Fans are wondering what makes her so different than Kanye West who also had a similar meltdown but still gets to live his life freely.

Well, luckily Britney Spears will be free to make her own choices by the end of August, which is great news. We are waiting to see how she turns her life around if she is not under such control.
