Kelly Clarkson Hits Back at Troll: “Aim Higher Please”
Kelly Clarkson was just confirmed as the host for the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. This marks her third consecutive year as host of the prestigious award show. And, if that wasn’t enough, the singer-songwriter has been busy working on new music.
But, turns out, Taylor Swift was right: hater’s gon’ hate. Clarkson found herself in the spotlight when a troll on Twitter decided to blame her busy schedule for her “marriage not working out”.
Over the weekend, Kelly took to social media to confirm that she’s all set to make her return as host of this year’s BBMAs, taking place on the 14th of October. And, amid an overwhelming wave of support and congratulations, a hater emerged with some unsolicited, and unwarranted opinions.
The troll, in a now deleted tweet, wrote: “no wonder her marriage didn’t work”, indicating that the singer’s busy schedule must have been the problem. Well, lucky for us, Clarkson isn’t one to shy away from speaking her mind and standing up for herself.
Kelly put the phrase “kill em with kindness’ to good use when she addressed the troll. The singer responded, saying: “Wow. Shaming a woman who has a great work ethic, is a great mom, and who steps up and fills in when a friends asks for a favor because that’s actually what “good old country girls” do…. this can’t be who you are deep down. I have more faith in your heart. Aim higher please.”
Further, the singer’s response was met with support and encouragement. And so, ended a hater’s tryst with Kelly Clarkson.
Kelly, who married Brandon Blackstock back in 2013, filed for divorce earlier this year. The couple have two children, a son and a daughter, together. Aside from her personal life, Clarkson is also a judge on NBCs The Voice and the host of her very own talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. So, maybe the haters just need to take their cue and back off.
