Lauv Leaves Us Vulnerable With ‘Love Somebody’ Video
American singer-songwriter, Lauv, has released the official music video for his track, ‘Love Somebody’. The song, which features on his latest EP, “Without You”, is a light pop track, complete with mellow acoustic riffs signature of the singer.
The ‘Modern Loneliness’ singer announced the release of the video via Instagram with a post that teased the theme of the visualiser. The sunlit picture of Lauv holding on tightly to a woman piqued curiosity immediately. That being said, nothing can really prepare you for the intimacy delivered in the new music video.
‘Love Somebody’ sees Lauv reflecting on his inability to embrace love. Acknowledging self-destructive tendencies, the American singer croons: “Why do I do this?// Pick you up and put you down and put you through this.”
Wanting to move on, but unable to; wanting to cut all ties, but wanting to hold on – these are some of the thoughts mirrored in the music video. The bright, blue and red themed visual sees Lauv and his lover drenched in sunlight, embracing each other in a tight hug. And so, the video is quite literally just a 2.5 minute-long hug.
Watching two people hug for that long can only do two things: make you feel like a voyeur. Or, under these circumstances, leave you longing for a hug. Either way, Lauv has got you right where he wants – vulnerable and intrigued.
