Megan Thee Stallion Reigns Supreme on The Charts
On October 2nd, Megan Thee Stallion arrived with her buzzing new collaboration with rapper, Young Thug. Titled ‘Don’t Stop’ their fresh track was also accompanied by its very own, twisted Alice in Wonderland themed music video. And just recently, the track welcomed new victories on the charts.
Billboard’s U.S. Top Triller Global charts just made space for Megan Thee Stallion and Young Thug at the No. 1 spot. ‘Don’t Stop’ in fact debuted at the summit of the chart dated October 17th.
Meanwhile, on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, ‘Don’t Stop’ debuted at No. 30. The track’s also managed to rake in a whopping 13.8 million U.S. streams and 5,000 downloads. Adding to this, on the Global 200 Charts, the song occupies No. 61.
Megan Thee Stallion Addresses The Struggles of Black Women
In other news, Megan also received a shoutout from American politician, Kamala Harris, for the powerful statements she made in a recent interview with the New York Times. In her bold opinion piece, the young rapper touched upon the struggles faced by black women across all industries and the importance of choosing to offer them protection. Take a look:
“In every industry, women are pitted against one another, but especially in hip-hop, where it seems as if the male-dominated ecosystem can handle only one female rapper at a time,” Megan began, “Countless times, people have tried to pit me against Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, two incredible entertainers and strong women. I’m not “the new” anyone; we are all unique in our own ways.”
The star continued, “We live in a country where we have the freedom to criticize elected officials. And it’s ridiculous that some people think the simple phrase “Protect Black women” is controversial. We deserve to be protected as human beings. And we are entitled to our anger about a laundry list of mistreatment and neglect that we suffer.”
In response to this, Harris tweeted, “Thank you, @theestallion, for using your voice to speak out. Black women DO deserve better. I promise when @JoeBiden and I are elected, we’ll continue to show up not just with lip service, but with action.”
And so, as Megan Thee Stallion continues to dominate the hip-hop world, she’s also used her platform time and again to voice the struggles of the black community and to push for change.
