No More Music From Ed Sheeran…
Pop’s favourite Ginger-Brit, Ed Sheeran, took to Instagram to announce his… break from social media. Ironic, isn’t it?
The singer announced his second break from social media this Christmas, explaining that it was that time in his life again, where he must step away and take some time for himself and his family. The announcement follows that of his hiatus from music post Divide era.
Upon the release of his record breaking album “Divide”, Sheeran was on tour for close to a year and a half, travelling from city to city, completing hundreds of shows. The singer’s comeback to music was faced with both critical and commercial acclaim, raking in hundreds of millions of dollars in ticket sales and streaming royalties. His personal life blossomed as well, with his then girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, becoming his fiancee and now his wife. For any person, that’s a lot to deal with. Add to that the stress of tour life, jetlag, back-to-back press interviews and rigorous performances, and you’ve got yourself the perfect recipe for a burn-out.
Post Divide-tour, the singer announced that he would be taking a hiatus from music, not really to anyone’s surprise. But, now, his break from social media resembles his radio silence pre-Divide era. The singer took a break to get his feet back on the ground, experience life and write honestly, really immersing himself in the music-making process. And his Instagram post this time around echoes the same sentiment.
If this is all part of the process, then hey, we respect the process!
