Park Jimin’s ‘Filter’ Earns BTS A New Chart Victory
Over the past few weeks, BTS have welcomed a whirlwind of success surrounding their debut All-English track, ‘Dynamite‘. They’ve dominated the Billboard charts, raked in some mind-boggling streaming figures and have even earned themselves a good few nominations now that award season is in full swing. And now, the boys can add a fresh feather to their cap.
‘Filter’ Reigns Supreme
‘Filter’ from their “Map of the Soul: 7” cut has blasted onto the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart for the week ending October 10th, making it the group’s 23rd song to top the chart. Now, just for some context, this track is in fact a solo number crafted by the band’s lead vocalist, Jimin.
Featuring the young star’s unique cocktail of melodies and sultry acoustic riffs, this tune immediately poked its head out from their tracklist. And by achieving this feat, BTS are now officially the first artist ever to top Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart with 23 different songs, breaking their own record for the most No. 1s achieved on the chart by any artist in history.
‘Filter’ actually marks the band’s second solo number to claim the throne at that No. 1 spot. Previously, Jungkook’s ‘My Time’ from the same album occupied this coveted spot. Apart from this, 3 of their other 2020 releases have also stolen the spotlight. ‘ON,’ ‘Black Swan,’ and ‘Stay Gold’ have all reached the summit.
And while we’re listing out their impressive accolades, it’s worth mentioning that BTS have also scored a whopping five nominations for the 2020 MTV EMAs. The boys are up for awards in some of the biggest categories like Best Pop, Best Song, Best Group, Biggest Fans and more.
And so, as BTS continue on their winning streak, we can’t wait to see how things unfold for them.
