Sam Smith Brings Fans to Tears with Cover of ‘Fix You’
Sam Smith has done it again. The British pop singer took to YouTube to share a heart-rendering cover of Coldplay’s timeless classic, ‘Fix You’.
Donning a simple look: jeans and a t-shirt, Smith thrives in a minimal set up. There are no frills and no extravagances. The only thing in focus is their voice: a technically sound emotional roller coaster that will take you on the ride of your life.
Sam Smith is known as one of pop’s strongest live performers, delivering consistently on the vocal front. Bringing their ballad style to this rendition of ‘Fix You’, the cover features choral elements. Complete with stunning harmonies and deep tones, courtesy yours truly.
The cover comes at a time when the world continues to grapple with unprecedented circumstances. Amid a global pandemic, mass cultural movements (Black Lives Matter), and civil strife, another cover by a musician may not seem like the perfect solution. But, if it’s a cover of ‘Fix You’ (given the theme of the song) by Sam Smith, it will provide comfort at the very least.
The cover also gives us all a chance to revel in music from the star. In an announcement at the start of the pandemic, Smith revealed that they would be pushing back the release date of the upcoming album indefinitely.
The album, which was to be called ‘To Die For’ will also undergo a title change in light of the current circumstances. The album will feature recent releases from Smith – ‘How Do You Sleep’ and ‘To Die For’.
