The Pro Life Way: Kanye West’s 2020 Vision
What’s a Monday in 2020 without an explosion on Twitter? And, what’s a Monday in July without a controversial moment from Kanye West’s “presidential run”?
Rapper and walking contradiction, Kanye West, pulled out of the race for President of the USA earlier last week. But, this week, he was seen hosting his first ever rally at the Exquis Event Center in North Charleston.
Videos and clips from the event are doing the rounds on social media. And while everyone is used to West being controversial, observers can never truly prepare themselves for the rapper’s political dialogue and discourse.
Clad in a “security” vest, with no microphone in hand, Kanye West began his rally emphatically. Covering all political bases – from religion and anti abortion views to his stance on gun control, this rally provides multiple talking points for his new strategy in the race.
And so, West plans on qualifying for the ballot in South Carolina, as an independent candidate. To do so, the rapper will need to collect 10,000 signatures by Monday, noon. If he succeeds, his name will appear on the South Carolina ballot for the upcoming November elections.
West is Anti Abortion
In the controversial clips, West talks about abortion within the framework of state sanctioned violence. Speaking of curbing the practice of abortion and providing monetary child care support as an alternative, Kanye West brought up the case of his wife, Kim Kardashian’s first pregnancy.
In his speech, Kanye West opened up (and eventually broke down), saying: “I almost killed my daughter (referring to their first born, North West)”. He goes on to say, “So even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn’t want to.”
West even went on to reveal that his mother, the Late Donda West, chose to go pro life when she was pregnant with him. West’s father, in fact, wanted to terminate the pregnancy. “My dad wanted to abort me. My Mom saved my life,” West said. Interestingly enough, there came his emotional breakdown. Repeating the phrase, “I almost killed my daughter”, Kanye West began to sob.
The confusion doesn’t end there. Kanye continues to receive hate after he dismissed famous abolitionist – Harriet Tubamn. The rapper said, “She didn’t actually free the slaves. She just had the slaves go work for other white people.”
Kanye’s Mental Health in Question
Many on Twitter have also gone on to express their concern for the rapper’s mental health. Speaking of his rally as an “emotional outburst”, and “yet another episode”, many are calling for action in favour of Kanye West’s mental rehabilitation. Bringing up previous incidents, many believe that this behaviour is actually Kanye West’s “cry for help”.
