Alex Kate

RJ Rohit caught up with Indie artist, Alex Kate about her musical journey and her new track ‘Not a clue’!

Alex Kate has entered the music industry with her songs ‘Send Me Your Ears’ and ‘Sinusoidal’. These songs have been compared to Kate Bush and Karen Carpenter. With her third EP, she has returned to synth pop after moving into rock pop. Her eerie vocals and catchy choruses are present in all of her tracks, and it’s something that never changes. Her primary musical influences include Florence and The Machine, Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac, 1975, Christine & The Queens.

She has family in Cape Town, which is why Alex has been fortunate to be able to film there two years in a row. Alex Kate loves vintage clothing and traditional poetry. The singer rapidly established herself as a storyteller worth listening to. She creates poetic excursions to inspire, comfort or challenge the status quo by fusing vintage percussion with ethereal vocals. She launched her solo career after years of composing and feeling inspired by UK artists.
