RJ Rohit caught up with Indie artist, Moko Koza about his musical journey and his brand-new track ‘Infinity Cypher’!
Moko Koza, or Mvüko Koza, is a Naga rapper and songwriter. He was born and raised in Kohima, Nagaland to Chakhesang Naga family from Khezhakeno and he is very proud of his cultural heritage, which is why his music largely reflects it. He did his schooling from Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School in Kohima and later completed his master’s degree in Anthropology from Kohima Science College, Jotsoma before turning professionally towards music.
“As a youth myself, I try to use music as a medium to reach out to people – to educate and promote our rich culture through well crafted lyrical storytelling. I am all for being organic and authentic but at the same time not shy of incorporating mainstream elements for maximum impact and reach,” Moko Koza said about his music in an interview. Growing up in Nagaland, a place where there are so many tribes with their own unique dialects, customs, festivals and food has definitely shaped his world of music.
