Xperience Sessions With Druv Kent

RJ Rohit from Indigomusic.com caught up with indie artist Druv Kent, a banker who turned full-time musician in 2013! He is one of Asia’s most innovative musical artists and performers, with albums in both English and Hindi. One can expect a world-class, one-of-a-kind offering from this composer, singer-songwriter, and narrator of timeless stories set to contemporary music.

Kent burst into the international music scene in 2015 and became the first Asian-based musician to be backed by BBC Radio 2 in 20 years. He scored #1 chart-topping songs on the World Indie Music Charts and the Euro Indie Music Charts. His track ‘Don’t Burn Away’ hit #12 on the US Top 20. Druv was nominated for 5 IIMA music awards (Best Pop Song, Rock Song, Fusion Song, Folk Song, Live Performance – Male). He has composed and sung for Bollywood. His composition for Hindustan Meri Jaan has been ranked as a Top 10 Hindi patriotic song. He is also credited with the composition of Jeetega Hindustan which is a World Cup cricket anthem that went viral.

The cover story of India Se’s 2019 issue, featured Kent as one of India’s top songwriter-composers in both English and Hindi. He was also invited to judge on various award shows.

His song lyrics are usually soulful embedded with nuanced themes about climate, loss of innocence, finding love and ourselves. Though the music is international yet the lyrics (in both English and Hindi) have an Indian essence. Kent’s music has drawn the attention of UK-based producers Greg Haver, Calum MacColl and Simon Edwards (who’ve worked with John Mayer, Ronan Keating, Radiohead, Sheryl Crow, The Manic Street Preachers, Oasis). As of now, Druv is creating music in Sweden, the UK, Nashville and Mumbai.
