Xperience Sessions With Indie Artist Hemanth Jois

RJ Rohit had a chat with Indie artist and music composer, Hemanth Jois who has composed music for Kannada films. Hemanth's path to stardom, like that of his predecessors, was not without adversity, but the lad was unfazed by his setbacks because "music is my passion." Hemath Jois, his own music channel where he releases his own songs, has made him a household name.

His tracks 'Khushi'
and 'Ram Darbar' have become internet sensations. The song, composed by Jois,
also features playback vocalist Chethan Naik, who is a member of The Naik and
Jois Project, a Kannada rock band alongside Hemanth. Hemanth is a huge fan of
the song "Ram Darbar."

“The song was shot in
the age old Kapileshwara Temple in Teerthahalli in the light of a 1,000
lamps.The song is a fusion of Hindustani classical and Rock.”

Hemanth has won several awards, including the KIMA Best Indie Artist Award and the Shankarnag Youth Icon Award (2017). Hemanth, a Linkin Park fan, says he has also seen the band perform live. “That is when I felt that there were no Kannada Rock bands apart from Raghu Dixit. That inspired me to take to music full time,” says the composer, who is a self-taught guitarist. “I went through college, job and work. I gave it all up to pursue a career in music.”

Making a name for
oneself as a composer, according to Hemanth, is more difficult than being an
independent musician.

“For films, you have
to convince a whole segment of people before you put out your music. As an
independent musician, however, you have the freedom to put out what your heart
believes in.”
