RJ Rohit caught up with Indie artist Mona Patel. Currently based in Perth, she is an Indian-Australian singer-songwriter and music producer best known for the songs ‘Dream Guy’ and ‘Take Me Home’.
An artist reinventing the pop genre with her exceptional production skills and lyrical tenacity, released yet another incredible track called ‘Hope To Heal’.
Following the outstanding response to her previous three singles, 'Hope to Heal' is an English song with just one vocal. These tracks have received a lot of Spotify streams and significant internet support from all around the world.
Through its exquisite production, entrancing melody and raw vocal parts, which are uncommon in today's pop environment, the mesmerizing vocalist captivates listeners with her novelty. She clearly loves narrating stories, which is evident when listening to this song. The vocalist creates a strong visual image for the listeners through her song by using lines like "Grab your jumper and hold it tight, cause it gets you right through the night." The lyrics draw attention to the painful experience that the entire world has gone through during the two-year pandemic. With the lyrics "we hope to heal from all the pain," Mona expresses her belief in the power of the greater good.
Mona explains “I just wanted to write a song of hope, and communicate a healing message. My aim was to transcend the listener into my world and let them hear my thoughts and feel my emotions through my music. The world has been in such incredible turmoil in the past two years, and this song was my way of allowing the listener to understand and empathize with that perspective”
Mona, who also produced the song, skillfully blends orchestral elements into the song's structure while placing the strings instruments at the foreground. The primary vocal is supported by the violin, viola, cello and double bass, which are all harmonised throughout to give an inspiring message of hope for the future.
“Music has always been such a pivotal part of my life since I was a child. It has uplifted me, comforted me, encouraged me and inspired me. I am driven to share my passion for music, songwriting, and production, with the world. I want people to feel what I feel. It’s that mutual empathy”, says Mona Patel.
The up-and-coming singer is a graduate of SAE Perth's Music Production programme and has training in contemporary jazz vocals. Since she was a little girl, Mona has travelled much over the world and is now leveraging her transnational experience to leave her mark and create a legacy.
The singer now has the knowledge necessary to manage the intricate web of contracts and legalities in the music business as well as to be aware of her rights as a performing artist thanks to her studies in human rights and business law. She has always had a strong idea of the impact she wants her songs to have.
“All I want to do is make people feel alive, the same way I do when I hear a great song,” say’s Mona.
Mona reveals a part of herself that hasn't been shown before in the song ‘Hope to Heal’, which was released on 5th August. The song is real and passionate while also carrying a strong message that needs to be heard by everyone.
