RJ Rohit caught up with Peekay about her new single ‘Squeaky Clean’ and her life as an Indie artist. 

Peekay is an independent artist who hails from the city of Hyderabad. She has recently dropped her new song ‘Squeaky Clean’, which is her 6th single in a row of popularly celebrated songs. ‘Squeaky Clean’ belongs to the R&B Soul/Pop genre, and gets the listeners grooving right from the start. The tunes create a mystic aura with the piano chords that blanket the introduction of the song. The inspiration of the song, the artwork and the music video is derived from her childhood home in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. 

Peekay was influenced by the music of the 80s and 90s, which is evident in her music that instills a sense of nostalgia in the minds of the audience. Peekay claims, “It is my desire to return back to a time in my life where I was a child and try to reset the clock for myself every time I need to go into a situation with a fresh perspective.” 

Peekay has also collaborated with the fashion design house ‘Whencut Goddamn’ for the concept video of her songs previously, and subsequently used limited edition fabrics that were styled by Manya Cherabuddi. The singer has successfully established her identity as a music artist with her last 5 singles. She performed ‘Squeaky Clean’ at Nh7 Pune and Echoes of Earth Festival, making her presence felt in the larger music scene in India.
