Veronica Fusaro

RJ Rohit caught up with Swiss singer/songwriter Veronica Fusaro, who recently released her upbeat brand-new single ‘Summer Lightning’.

It’s hard to believe ‘Summer Lightning’ is a song about breaking up. A track about the revelation of a long-gone relationship and the sentiments that went along with it. The pop tune is energetic and full of confidence – like sadness wrapped in colourful wrapping paper, as Veronica sings in the chorus. It’s yet another song that demonstrates, how much Veronica enjoys experimenting with different genres, rhythms,  lyrical and melodic contrasts and musical influences from all over the world.

Veronica says, “`Summer Lightning’ is about a person that stumbled into my life, and who just wasn’t good for me. It’s a self-reflection about the whole situation, and how I learn to accept that it’s not meant to be. It felt so good to write this one, because it gave me the opportunity to wrap all of the anger, the sadness and the frustration into a song that makes me want to dance and simply have fun! Can’t wait for you to hear it!”

On 28th August, 2022, at the Tata Theatre, NCPA, Veronica Fusaro and her band captivated an attentive crowd. The young singer, songwriter and guitarist performed a variety of songs from her 2016 debut EP to her most recent single, ‘Better With You’ over a nearly 90-minute concert. Without a pause, Veronica and her Swiss three-piece band held the audience transfixed and even managed to get them to sing along to a few of her songs.

The artist, who first caught the public’s attention in 2016 with her self-produced EP ‘Lost In Thought’ and with her voice and genuineness, moves freely as ever. And this too, is after a career that included performances at Glastonbury, the Eurosonic Festival or as a support act for Mark Knopfler or Eagle-Eye Cherry, refreshing like a summer thunderstorm.
