Zendaya on ‘Euphoria’ Delay: “It’s Beyond Me”

Zendaya has spoken out about the hold-up with season three of ‘Euphoria,’ confessing she’s just as clueless as the rest of us about when, or even if, production will kick off.

It’s been a bit over two years since the gripping finale of the second season left us hanging on a cliff. The third season faced a setback in filming and production due to last year’s strikes by actors and writers, along with creator Sam Levinson’s delay in getting the script ready.

HBO recently announced that the much-anticipated season is still on ice, giving the talented cast the green light to pursue other acting gigs while they wait. HBO assured fans that they and Levinson are still fully committed to delivering an outstanding third season.

Now, Zendaya, who also serves as an executive producer, has weighed in on the situation. Despite her role behind the scenes, she’s quick to clarify that she’s not the one pulling the strings. “If the storyline aligns well with the characters and everything falls into place as it should, then, sure,” she told Variety. “But ultimately, it’s not up to me.”

Meanwhile, Sydney Sweeney, chatting exclusively to NME, admitted she’s in the dark about when production will kick off, despite dropping hints previously that she’s already had a peek at the scripts for the upcoming season.

“Um, I can’t say when I’ll be back on set for Euphoria,” she said. “Right now, I’m fully focused on promoting Immaculate, and then we’ll have to wait and see.” Adding to the mix, Colman Domingo, another ‘Euphoria’ star, shared his insights on why the third season is taking its sweet time.

“[Sam] is the type who constantly rewrites and revises because he’s grappling with what really matters,” Domingo told GQ. “He’s quick to respond to the issues facing the world. What I can tell you is he’s deeply interested in exploring the existential question of our current identity. That’s the essence of what he’s aiming for with season three.”
